Aness is from Algiers, where he was born and raised. He completed a first baccalauréat in 2023 and spent the 2023–2024 academic year at the National Higher School of Autonomous Systems.[1] In 2024 he sat a second baccalauréat — a path he describes, without much ceremony, as "a second key to the same door"[citation needed] — and enrolled the same year at the Higher School of Computer Science (ESI Algiers) as a third-year candidate, where he is currently pursuing computer science.

He is currently in his third year at ESI, studying computer science with an interest in how systems are designed — the answers a curriculum gives and the questions it leaves unanswered.[1] He sees the degree less as a credential and more as a long, structured excuse to read, build, and break things in good company.[clarification needed]

Extracurricular involvement

Aness joined the ETIC Club, ESI Algiers's student-run tech association, in 2024, and has served as its president since August 2026 — moving from building and shipping with the club to running it. Before taking the role he was an event coordinator for the S2EE 17 edition — one of the club's flagship events — handling programming, logistics, and the particular kind of calm that keeps a multi-track event on schedule. Aness's interests sit at the intersection of systems software, mobile development, design and UI/UX, and developer tooling — he is drawn to problems where the user is also a builder, and where the right abstraction is a quiet one nobody notices. He cares as much about how a product feels to use as how it works underneath, and does his own design work rather than leaving it to someone else. He reads more documentation than is strictly required, keeps a long queue of side projects, and treats shipping small things as a way of learning a platform end-to-end instead of grazing its surface.[citation needed]

Outside of software, he divides his attention between steady caffeine consumption, long walks through Algiers, and a stated preference for house music while debugging — a claim corroborated only by the Music app on his own contact page.[3] He is, by his own account, remote-friendly, open to opportunities, and allergic to stand-ups that could have been an issue. Aness works alone well and with others better. He prefers reading the source over reading the docs, shipping over perfecting, and small utilities over big platforms. He keeps a side-project queue that grows faster than he can clear it, which he considers a feature rather than a bug. He has shipped work in Swift, Dart, TypeScript, and Python, and is quietly of the opinion that Haskell would have made him a better programmer if he had only taken the time. [citation needed]

Aness lives in Algiers. He is reachable through his contact page via email, GitHub, LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, Discord, and the Algerian telephone network — a contact page styled as an iPhone home screen, because he thought it was funny and still does.[3] He does not run, does not cook as often as he would like, and keeps a long reading backlog he works through slowly and in no particular order. He is open to opportunities and takes the word remote-friendly literally.
